Ms. Damplo handles appeals in federal and state
courts. She has litigated and argued matters in the
United States Court of Appeals for the Second and
Sixth Circuits, the New York Court of Appeals, and
the First and Second Departments of the New York
State Supreme Court Appellate Division as well as
filed petitions for writs of certiorari in the U.S.
Supreme Court and litigated federal habeas corpus
matters. She has taught Advanced Appellate
Advocacy as an adjunct professor of law for Pace
University School of Law. She was recognized in
her field of practice through selection in the
publication, New York Super Lawyers - Metro
Editions 2007 and 2008, in the practice area of
appellate law. Prior results do not guarantee a
similar outcome.Prior to opening her New York practice in 2000, Ms.
Damplo clerked for several years in Ann Arbor,
Michigan as sole law clerk to the Hon. Ralph B. Guy,
Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the
Sixth Circuit. She worked on an array of cases
involving federal subject matter or diversity
jurisdiction from bankruptcy, tax, ERISA,
employment discrimination, among others, to
criminal law. Before assuming her clerkship, she
was a civil litigator in the Washington, D.C. law firm
of Steptoe & Johnson, concentrating on commercial
contract disputes, insurance coverage, and
administrative law including surface transportation,
such as rail and motor carriage, and oil and gas rate
regulation.
An active member of the New York Bar, Ms. Damplo
is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the
United States Courts of Appeals for the Second
Circuit and the Sixth Circuit, and the United States
District Courts for the Southern and Eastern
Districts of New York. She is also a member
(inactive) of the bars of Maryland, Michigan, and the
District of Columbia.
Ms. Damplo is an honors graduate of Georgetown
University Law Center. She received her A.B. in
government from Harvard College.
She serves on the New York State Bar Association’s
Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction. In
2007 and 2005 she chaired the Committee's
Westchester CLE program on New York Appellate
Practice. She is the former managing editor of the
Westchester Bar Journal. She serves as Secretary of
the Westchester County Bar Association and co-
chairs its Diversity Committee. She is a former
officer of the Westchester Women's Bar Association.
